#BrownEmergencyHealthTip from Dr. Genisca: Drowning

Did you know that drowning is the leading cause of injury-related death for children 1 to 4 years old? And teens are also at high risk. Here are some tips on drowning prevention to keep your kids safe: • Swimming lessons for everyone • Assign a "water watcher": an adult whose only focus is on watching the children in the water. This means no cell phones. • Remember the Rule of 4's for pool safety: pools should be enclosed by a self-latching 4-wall fence at least 4 feet high with no slats or openings more than 4 inches wide.
